Plans and billing
Astell's plans, how tokens meter usage, and how to manage your subscription, seats, and invoices.
Astell has four plans. Every plan includes unlimited Native Data syncing and unlimited search; plans differ in monthly tokens, how far back your data is indexed, and team features.
Plans
- Sapling: free. Personal productivity for a single seat.
- Tree: team coordination. Shared workspaces, more tokens per seat, and a longer indexed history.
- Grove: advanced intelligence. Large token allocations, the longest standard indexing window, and Ultra mode.
- Forest: bespoke solutions with dedicated infrastructure and a customizable indexing window. Contact founders@labtwofour.com.

How usage is metered
Tokens measure metered usage across Astell. The short version:
- Never metered: Native Data syncing (messages, emails, tasks, code), search, and the Loops dashboard.
- Metered: Processed Data ingestion (documents, images, audio, video, meetings, web pages, people and company entities), chat on any model, Astell Actions, and the twice-daily Audits.
Rates per media type are listed in What costs tokens, and managing token usage covers how to keep consumption predictable. Usage on paid plans is informational; nothing is blocked when you pass your allocation.
Manage your subscription
Billing lives in Workspace settings → Billing and is per workspace. An Owner can:
Change plans. Upgrades take effect immediately; scheduled changes (like a downgrade at the end of the cycle) are shown on the active plan card and can be cancelled before they apply.
Manage seats. Paid plans are billed per seat. Adding members adds seats; the members list in workspace settings is the source of truth.
Manage payment methods. Add or replace cards and set the default payment method.
Download invoices. Every invoice is listed with its status and a download link.
Watch your usage
Workspace settings → Usage shows the workspace's token consumption for the current cycle, broken down by member and by feature, so you can see exactly where tokens go before the invoice does. Real-world consumption examples are in real-world usage examples.
