What does Astell search for?
Astell searches across the data you've synced from connected tools, so you can find relevant messages, tasks, documents, files, and other workspace content in one place.
Do I need to tell Astell where to search?
No. By default, Astell searches across all connected sources. To narrow results, specify in your chat to focus on a specific source, time range, or content type.
How is Astell search different from keyword search?
Astell search doesn't rely on exact keyword matches. It combines keyword and semantic search to retrieve results based on meaning, then uses context (source system, author, change history, and related items like threads, tickets, and pull requests) to rank what's most relevant.
What search filters are available?
You can filter results by source, date range, and file/content type. In chat, you can also set filters in plain language ("only Slack, last 30 days").
Does search consume tokens?
Searching your synced workspace is free and unlimited. It does not consume tokens. (Web search is different: pages Astell retrieves from the public web on your behalf are ingested at the web-page token rate.)
How far back does search go?
Search covers all synced data, regardless of age. If you've synced historical data, it's searchable.
